Working with Brae Property Group, these images were to support with marketing and promotion for the Airlie Drive residential project in Perth.
This was turned around quickly in three days to meet the client’s budget and timeline, and I was delighted to get a chance to work on this short/sharp engagement in-between larger project work.
Working with Ostick + Williams architects, on behalf of Urban Pulse, I started this project 2018 with an original commission for one aerial and three eye level views. Since, there have been 3 variations during design development.
This was a large project for Collabor8, working directly with ADP Architecture Manchester, in collaboration with 6 other talented designers within their UK studios.
Given the timing of this project, it was a new approach to collaborating! The project design development was conducted via Zoom, which was of concern at the start of the process as it was so different to how we’d worked on previous “future” projects with ADP. However, as the project developed, it was interesting to see the language and creative of each team member come together, with each ‘zone’ designed by a different studio and co-ordinated centrally.
The project was delivered in 3 weeks, with 1 full week dedicated to rendering the animation and post production work.
“I started getting excited when I saw the sign-off and knew we had it nailed! Its so important that the every project is a collaboration and the client/design is invested in the process and understands where the project is at and has confidence that the final production will be great.”
-Jon Roylance, Director at ADP Architecture
Having worked on this project initially back in 2007, I subsequently worked on it in 2015 with the team at Michael Laird Architects, Glasgow to support them to refine their model and create interior and exterior marketing images.
Being so familiar with the building made the project more straight forward and allowed me to focus more of my time on the detail and the lighting.
It was a pleasure to work on such a great project so close to home, and I was delighted to receive the following feedback from Bonnie Cook at MLA Interiors:
"We engaged with Collabor8 on a recent refurbishment project to produce top-quality visuals for marketing purposes. From the early engagement right through to receiving the final images, the process was collaborative, straight-forward and the final images well received. Gordon was very helpful and always happy to make small changes in post-production. We have since used Collabor8 again on other projects and would highly recommend."

Working with BSD Associates, I completed this project (for 2 images) for Motorpoint in April 2020.
Out first meeting was at Motorpoint Glasgow, which the team had previously refurbished, so it was great for photo references. It was fantastic to work on a project that was fully detailed and had such a comprehensive specification!
Working with Lisa Green from Maxwell Green Designs, I was commissioned to create six images, including entrance, reception, library, common room, gym, and typical room at the 11 Hillside Crescent.
The existing spaces are so special, from the skirtings to the cornices and ceiling roses, and these all had to be modelled. During the design development we explored many different colour pallettes and, as most of the furniture was also very high end, my only option was detail model every piece individually.
After I delivered the initial images commissioned, I created a set of vignettes detail shots exploring the materials and the various types of lighting, this also allow me to refine the texturing of the models.
“Working with Gordon from Collabor8 was a masterclass in the craft of CGI . Gordon was able to seamlessly translate our vision into a true representation of the design. This allowed the client to really appreciate the furniture and the setting in great detail, but more importantly, allowed the team to understand the intended atmosphere. The development of the visuals was an open conversation, with Gordons creativity and technical skills coming to the fore. We are delighted with the results and the client is thrilled with the new marketing collateral that shows their building in photo real detail. Efficient , professional, and highly skilled , we look forward to working with Collaborate in the near future..”

Working with ADP Architecture Edinburgh, I created images to support a planning application back in June 2016. The project received planning approval in September 2020. Find out more on the ADP Architecture site.
Working with Ryder Architecture, I created three marketing images for Magenta Business Park. It was an enjoyable project that was for 2 buildings, as part of the 7N masterplan in Glasgow.
This project was originally delivered in 2017 and then updated 2019. and has included several design changes to this point.
The images were rendered at 7K resolution+, to allow the client to used cropped versions of the images in marketing materials.
Working with the team at ADP Architecture in Manchester, my remit was to create images and animation of each ‘future’ space (including lab, learning and office).
The images and media were to be used at the AUDE conference and also for ADP to promote their Collaboration tools.
During this project, ADP produced an initial model of each space as a base, created in Revit, supported with sketches and markup to ensure the design messages were clearly communicated.
I took this forward, detailed and worked with the team to develop to the final production, which were over 10K resolution.
It was great to work on these spaces for the future, I hope to see them come to fruition one day!
“Gordon has supported ADP through the delivery of several CGI projects over three years. Commissions have included the development of new future workplace, learning space, and research space concepts produced as animations, point view VR, and scenes for VR eyewear. Other images have ranged from interiors through to full buildings for a range of our clients.
Gordon is a pleasure to work with and a fantastic collaborator.
He is proactive, interpreting ideas from outline drawings and sketches, and he is always tenacious to ensure the final product is exceptionally good and exceeds our expectations.
We would not hesitate to recommend him to other clients.”

Working with Cooper Cromar, I created images for this office development for CEG at 52-58 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, London. The aim of this project was to create a series of architectural visuals to support the planning process.
I worked on this project over a 6 month period with several keystone deliveries from basic massing through to final planning imagery.
As the project was ongoing, I was able to take time to get the final materiality right. I also had an efficient work flow to enable new models to be seamless imported and materiality and texture mapping reapplied, which was important because the architect supplied several revised models through the process.
Overall, the architect on this project had a great working style and approach, which maximised the time I had for the production.
The images I created during this project can be found across a number of articles within the architectural press, including Construction Enquirer, BDaily, and Construction.co.uk.
"Cooper Cromar have an strong working relationship with Gordon and Collabor8. Over recent years Gordon has produced excellent visualisations in support of many of our key Planning Applications for significant urban projects.
Typically these projects require not only the preparation of CGI images of the proposal development but also wider townscape impact and assessment views of the proposal.
Recently Gordon has carried out townscape assessment CGI’s for us on projects in Cadogan Street, Glasgow and Ealing, London where the preparation of this type of imagery has been of fundamental importance in the determination of the planning applications."
Graham Forsyth, Director, Cooper Cromar
I had the opportunity to work McGinlay Bell Architects on an extensive visualisation project for a commercial property refurbishment in the heart of Glasgow.
The aim of this project was to create images to support in the sales & marketing of the 27,000 sq ft Blythswood Square office space by showcasing the expected results of the refurbishment.
The architects required a selection of visual outputs including an exterior montage, entrance interior, reception, office floor plates, toilets & highly detailed interior shots.
It was a pleasure to work with the excellent materials and textures used on this project.
Throughout, the architect was very open and collaborative - encouraging me to create shots that maximised the visual impact of each view without compromise. I worked on the project over a 6 month period, producing many options and several iterations to be presented to the final client. This review process was smooth as a result of clearly set expectations and a the quick formation of a strong working relationship.
I often comment that my job is easy when the architect has a clear direction, which was certainly the case on this project!
The images I created during this project now sit on the website aimed to showcase the building to potential tenants. They also feature throughout the downloadable PDF marketing brochure.
"We are pleased to note that we are always provided with a high level of professionalism, dynamism and commitment from Gordon and his team at Collabor8. The visualisations provided have always and will continue to play a key role in the communication of a design to potential clients, statutory authorities or end users."
Mark Bell, Director, McGinlay Bell Architects
A mix of images from various residential property projects, showcasing different dwelling types.
Working with the team at ADP Architecture in Edinburgh I completed a project to visualise the planned Liff Care Home development in Dundee. The project included 5 images initially and, subsequently, a few vignettes to showcase the material of the building.
The images were finalised three times and, each time, the level of detail and articulation in the courtyard changed, enhancing the quality of the final imagery.
Key to the final production of these images was the detailed architecture from ADP and the final images presenting a calm and tranquil setting, limiting the number of people and focusing on the surroundings.
It was great to see these some of these images appear in a Scottish Construction Now article about the project and I was delighted with the following feedback from Stephen at ADP Architecture:
"Passed the final drafts past the client last night. They were delighted. So please progress to final renders for all images. Really appreciate the additional time and effort to help us get this over the line."
Stephen Miles, Director at ADP Architecture
Iain Guthrie from Guthrie Aerial Photography also captured some brilliant aerial shots to support the project - fortunately he got the weather for it!
Recently, I worked with the Managing Director and European Marketing Director at Comfort on a project to create a product configurator for their website. Here's a quick summary of the requirements, workflow and results from the project, including some final renders and images from the website.
The aim of the configurator is to allow customers to build their chair online, order there and then and for manufacturing to happen automatically. This meant that the production had to represent each option accurately to give customers the best representation of what they were ordering.
Given that the inspiration for this project was established early in the process - dictating many aspects of the final output - the business required me to deliver final images to showcase on the site.
As with all projects, starting with a full set of precedent and reference images was extremely helpful.
During the production I spent several days on site reviewing each chair and working closely with the Comfort team to refine the production, remoting to my own PC from their offices. Being close to the team and the product was absolutely essential to ensure we were aligned at all times.
I also collaborated closely with one of Comfort's developers to ensure that there was efficient website infrastructure to create a cataloguing system. This meant future products could be automatically added to the site when produced using a standardised convention
After the 12 week project, I delivered the images of 17 chairs and 2 ottomans to the Senior Leadership at Comfort. I also produced feature function animations and models for clients to download in a variety of formats – including Revit/FBX/OBJ and sketchup. Each object required between 300-500 individual object renderings, with final production rendering lasting around 2 weeks.
"Gordon has been a delight to work with. His attention to detail and superb quality of work made, what was a tough job in a tight timescale, exceedingly efficient and cost-effective. Our customers couldn’t believe his product images were actually CGI renders and not photos. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Collabor8 to anyone looking for a creative and professional product visualisation service."
Mandy McDougall, European Marketing Director, Comfort
A mix of images from past commercial property projects, including office buildings and hospitality venues.
Working with Ryder Architecture, I created images for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.
The aim of this project was to create marketing images, to be used on the PPWH website to showcase the new purpose-built £21million hospice, in Glasgow's Bellahouston Park.
This production was for three exterior images, based on previously created shots and my remit was to recreate the images, integrating new design changes. The architect had a clear direction on which artistic style would match the quality of the project materiality.
The production was approached in two phases. The first phase was to establish the views and basic materiality, with the second phase being about finalising the style, compositions and enhancements in post-production.
The palette of materials selected for the project were amazing and I took my time to correctly represent these, again working very closely with the architect to achieve the warm tones - especially in the brick and bronze.
The externals of the project also took a some time to get right, working closely with the landscape architect on specific tree species and the tones. These were enhances in post-production, with the heather colour taken from the slate and multiplied through the shrubs.
"Gordon’s immediate understanding of the project aspirations and sensitivities made the 3D visualisation process engaging from the outset. His knowledge and passion for accurately representing the material palette resulted in an output that far exceeded expectations and allowed the images to be utilised in a wide range of formats to the benefit of the project. Gordon’s clear communication, proactive attitude to problem solving and professionalism allows for a confident recommendation of Collabor8’s services."
Alastair Forbes, Architectural Director, Ryder Architecture
Working closely with the team Taoti Creative I recently completed a three month project for DS2 Scotland to bring more than 350 products to life, including:
223 seats
123 screens
17 brackets
13 screen links
2 tables
This project included a total of 36 'set' hero shots which used the amazing palette of materials, selected by Taoti Creative, to create maximum visual impact across both the DS2 Scotland website and on their new brochure. It was great to receive a link to these images on the site and also a hard copy of the brochure.
I was also very proud of the following feedback from Dave at DS2 Scotland and Mandy from Taoti Creative:
"We first engaged with Mandy at Taoti (Creative) who suggested Gordon for the production of all the CG render of our products to be included in a refresh of our product brochures and digital media. After meeting with Gordon at our offices we commissioned Collabor8 the following day. Not only did Gordon generate images of our current range, he also modelled furniture that we only had at concept stage. The final brochures and website have helped us enormously with promoting our products to our customer base. His attention to detail and quality of the images exceeded our expectation and we would have no hesitation in recommending his services."
Dave Bissett, DS2 Scotland Ltd
"Gordon’s attention-to-detail and collaborative commitment was vital to the success of this project, making my job, as the designer, far smoother and efficient. The project was extensive – remodelling and representing a large range of soft seating and screen solutions in contemporary settings and in tight timescale. Gordon’s professionalism helped deliver results that have resulted in positive feedback from the both the client and their customers. His studio style visualisations, virtual spaces, superb lighting and outstanding final renders perfectly communicate and reflect the quality of the client’s products – helping their sales team and customers sell the ranges to the end users. I would recommend Gordon to anyone seeking a flexible, friendly and meticulous 3D visualiser for whom nothing is a problem."
Mandy McDougall, Founder of Taoti Creative
Working for Urban Pulse, we produced 3 exterior and 6 interior images for planning and marketing the new Warwick University Village, which was designed by Haus Collective (Exterior) and Threshold Interior (Interior Design).
